The Northern Regional Police Command is hunting for the armed robbers who caused the death of four traders on the Gushegu-Karaga road.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) told The Ghanaian Times in an interview on Monday that the police were doing everything possible to apprehend the suspected armed robbers.
“The perpetrators of this crime can run, but they cannot hide forever, we will unearth them in their hideouts,” he stressed.
ASP Tetteh appealed to the communities in the area to assist the police by volunteering information on strange people in their localities to the police.
He also hinted that the Regional Police Command had instituted 24-hour patrols on the stretch of the roads to avert any recurrence
He added that other strategies had been adopted by the police to halt armed robbery activities in the area in particular, and the region as whole.
The District Chief Executive for Gushegu Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini who was disturbed about the incident, challenged the security agencies to do everything to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.
Alhaji Fuseini in an interview with The Ghanaian Times said the District Security Committees (DISECs) of Gushegu and Karaga were collaborating and adopting effective measures to provide adequate security for businessmen and women in the area.
It would be recalled that four persons died when armed robbers attacked traders on the Gushegu -Karaga road at the early hours of Sunday, resulting in the death of four and injury to others.
The traders were said to be travelling from Tamale to Gushegu, when the armed robbers attacked them.
The robber stopped the traders in the middle of the road and ordered them to lie down on the floor unfortunately, another vehicle ran into them, killing four on spot, while several others sustained injuries.
