Police investigate murder of man, 78

The Police in Ashanti Region are investigating the murder of a 78-year-old   proprietor of Coconut Guest House in Adiebeba in Kumasi.

Mr. Anthony Adomako, was attacked and stabbed in his lower abdomen by an unknown assailant on Monday, June 12, 2017 at about 11:30pm, at his guest house.

The Public Affairs Director of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Juliana Obeng,  told The Ghanaian Times, here, that, a 52-year old receptionist,(name withheld) who was the only witness to the incident has been invited by the Police to help with the investigations.

ASP Obeng said, information gathered revealed that, Mr. Adomako was alone with the receptionist around 11:30pm when they heard someone knocking at the other gate of the entrance to the compound of the Guest House.

Mr. Adomako, the police said, asked the receptionist to check on who was knocking at the gate, and when he opened the gate, the assailant pointed a knife at him and ordered him to take him (assailant) to Mr. Adomako.

The police indicated that the receptionist took the assailant to where Mr. Adomako was, and he shut the door behind the assailant and Mr. Adomako in the bid to alert other neighbours for help.

ASP Obeng indicated that when he (the receptionist) returned with some neighbours, they saw Mr. Adomako in a pool of blood with knife wounds in his lower abdomen and the attacker nowhere to be found.  Meanwhile, nothing was stolen from the Guest House.

Mr. Adomako was, however, rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) but he was pronounced dead on arrival and the body has been deposited at KATH mortuary for autopsy.
