Police investigate murder of girl, 17

The Police are investigating the mystery surrounding the death of a Class Six pupil at Kwabenya in Accra.

Priscilla Oparebea, 17, of Kwabenya M A Cluster of Schools, was found dead with a deep cut in her throat and blood oozing from her genital.

She is believed to have been killed for ritual purposes, according to residents of the area.

Speaking to the media, Ebenezer Ofori, father of the deceased said he gave Oparebea pocket money and asked her to go to school.

He said, her friends at the school, said she complained of a headache and was granted permission to return home to seek medical attention.

Mr. Ofori said when he got to the house around 8pm and opened the door, he found the lifeless body of his daughter in a pool of blood on a bed

He raised an alarm and called for assistance, and later reported the matter to the police.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Effia Tenge who confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times, said the Kwabenya police together with personnel from the Crime Scene Unit visited the scene for investigations.

She said the body has been taken to the Police morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, residents claimed that Oparebea until her death had lived with the father since the age of three years after her mother divorced her father and left the matrimonial home.
