The police in the Brong-Ahafo Region have intensified their manhunt for the irate youth who vandalised the Kwapong Police Station on Saturday.
Currently, a police patrol team has been stationed at Kwapong to maintain law and order, as well as track down the the perpetrators.
The Police Administration was forced to close down its station in the town at the weekend, following the violence and destruction at the police station.
The violence erupted when a 20-year-old man, Frimpong Donkor, was stabbed to death by a fetish priest identified as Efo Kojo.
The police arrested the suspect and placed him in custody, but a mob stormed the station, calling for the head of Efo Kojo, which the police refused.
They forcibly broke into the police cell, pulled the suspect out, poured petrol on him and set him ablaze.
They proceeded to also destroy property at the station.
Briefing The Ghanaian Times, DCOP Maxwel Atingane, the Regional Commander, said the police were yet to make any arrest in connection with the incident.
He said in 1991, a similar incident occurred resulting in the death of a police sergeant.
He said though the police had closed down the station until further notice, the personnel were still on the ground to maintain law and order.
