Police find weapons in bush

The Tema Police Command, acting upon a tip-off, has recovered some items believed to belong to armed robbers from a bush at ‘Peace Be’, a suburb of New Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District.

The items, which were in a sack, included two pump action guns, one locally manufactured shot gun, two cutters and a small hammer.

The rest recovered were a screw driver, 31 BB cartridges, three black masks and three black shirts.

Information from Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Juliana Obeng, the Tema Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, said the police received information about the items hidden in the bush.

She said the items were found hidden under a neem tree by a resident who attended nature’s call in the bush, at about 5:30 a.m.

The resident informed the police after which Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Paul Bampo, the Prampram District Police Commander, led his men to search for the owners through intensive patrols, but to no avail.

ASP Obeng said they were being kept as exhibits while residents of the area have been cautioned and issued with police emergency numbers to immediately report any suspicious characters to the police, while investigations continue.
