Six suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the police in separate operations at Baastona and Adentan in Accra.
One of the suspects, Mammud Mohammed, 24, a trader, was arrested for terrorising residents at Adentan, whilst the others Nana Kwame, Agbogba Junior, Stephen Soglo Makafui, Amuzu Mensah and Herman Christopher, were also arrested at Baastona for robbery.
The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno at a press conference in Accra, said on November 5, this year, at about 1:15a.m., Mammud and three others armed with machete, attacked and robbed a lady in her resident at Adentan-Sakora.
He said they robbed her of her iphone, Samsung flat screen television, a home theatre, two laptops and a sum of GH¢500.
DCOP Yohuno said when the police was informed of the robbery they proceeded to the scene, but the four who were parking the booty into a car, bolted as soon as they spotted the police.
The Police Commander said Mammud was traced to Adentan and was arrested.
DCOP Yohuno said on November 26, this year, at about 2.00 a.m. police control room received a distress call that a house at Hydrophone Estate in Accra, was under attack.
However, he said the district patrol team proceeded to the scene but unfortunately the robbers bolted. The team later spotted the suspects within the locality and said a search was conducted on them in which the police retrieved a locally manufactured pistol and a knife.
DCOP Yohuno said the armed robbers were arrested, and they later confessed to committing the crime during interrogation.
