A taskforce made up of the police and personnel of other security agencies in the Central Region, has embarked on a swoop to flush out Chinese, illegally operating at quarry sites in the Gomoa area of the region.

In all, 25 Chinese were grabbed and taken to the Ojobi Police Station, but upon interrogation, 13 of them were released after they presented their work and other requisite permits.

The 12 Chinese who were unable to provide their work permit to the security task force were found to be working illegally in the same quarry without authority.

The taskforce, however, allowed the Chinese operating at the pilot quarry some time to provide documents authorising their stay in Ghana, but they were unable to provide them so they were transported to Cape Coast for prosecution.

Sources at the Central Regional Security Council, however, hinted they would be taken to court for prosecution, to determine whether their stay in Ghana was legal or otherwise.
