Kumasi-based football administrator and owner of Neoplan Stars Football Club, Mr. Jonathan Abbey Pobee, has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ban all members of the Disciplinary and Appeals Committees who presided over the Dreams FC versus Tema Youth FC case.
Speaking in an interview with Times Sports, Mr. Pobee said “the members of the Disciplinary and Appeals Committees have caused Ghana football so much for failing to interpret the rule on the use of unqualified player.”
“If members of the committees cannot interpret the rule then they have no business being on the committee and must therefore be banned for at least five years.”
Mr. Pobee also noted that if Mr. Ibrahim Dossey who signed the player in question has been banned for five years, then the same punishment must be meted out to members of the committees.
The astute football administrator further appealed for the recall of Mr. Maxwell Opoku Agyemang, an experienced lawyer and a law lecturer at the University of Ghana as chairman of the Player Status Committee.
Mr. Agyemang resigned earlier this year as the chairman of the Player Status Committee of the GFA.
Mr. Agyemang was assigned to handle the Dreams FC-Tema Youth FC case which involved a player, Cudjoe Mensah/Daniel Gorzar registering two different names for two different clubs — Amidaus Professionals and Dreams FC.
The said player, Cudjoe Mensah / Daniel Gorzar was found guilty and banned from football for one year, but left the club, Dreams FC, unpunished earlier.
