PNC targets 4 seats in U/E

Bernard MornahThe People National Convention (PNC) has expressed optimism of winning four parliamentary seats in the Upper East Region in the forthcoming elections.

Mr. Albert Abongo, Upper East Regional Secretary, who stated this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the targeted areas include Bolgatanga Central, Builsa South, Talensi and the Chiana-Paga Constituencies.

“We are very confident of winning these four seats and if possible more. We are working hard and leaving no stone unturned to make this dream a reality”.

The Regional Secretary, who said the party would also win more votes for its presidential candidate, added that the PNC has worked tirelessly and improved its prospects in the region.

Mr. Adongo said both the National Democratic (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has neglected the region for far too long, adding that when the party gets the mandate from Ghanaians, it would revamp the defunct Meat Factory at Zuarungu, the Zuarungu Rice Mills and the Pwalugu Tomato factory.

He said Dr. Edward Mahama, the flagbearer of the PNC, has a very good vision for the country and would prioritise on agriculture and empower the youth to take up farming.

He said though the PNC is in opposition, it was contributing a lot to national development and mentioned for instance the party’s parliamentary aspirant for Bolgatanga Central.

Mr. Thomas Akurugu, who with his own resources, has sunk a number of boreholes, supported women’s groups who are into basket weaving with seed capital and also repaired the collapsed bridge at Sumbrungu-Kolgu all in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency.

He said that a research conducted by the party in most of the constituencies has revealed that many constituents are unhappy with the incumbent Member of Parliament.

He urged all Ghanaians, particularly the youth to vote the PNC into power to help redeem Ghana from what he termed as “doldrum conditions”.
