Plumber remanded for possessing drugs

Charles Coffie, a plumber has been remanded into police custody for possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court presided by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh that the accused was arrested on October 10 at Lashibi, Accra.

He said police officers had a tip-off that Coffie was dealing in ‘dried leaves’ suspected to be Indian hemp.

The prosecutor stated that a search conducted on the accused revealed a compressed slab, two cut pieces, 12 wrappers, two smoked pieces and a quantity of the same substance in polythene suspected to be narcotics.

According to the prosecutor, the accused claimed ownership of the substance in his caution statement but failed to disclose the source of supply.

The court heard that the substance is yet to be sent to the police laboratory for examination and report.

The case was adjourned to October 31.
