The Ghana Table Tennis Federation’s (GTTF) prestigious Top Eight competition will be honoured tomorrow at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The winners will smile home with a cash amount of Gh¢2000.
Speaking at the launch of the event in Accra on Wednesday, the President of the federation, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu stated that the game has huge potential if developed to become a major discipline in the country with support from corporate entities.
The Stanbic Bank-sponsored event, he said, would bring top stars together as part of efforts to ensure that the players push for excellence.
Vice President of the federation, Ken Asigbey said the association will soon roll out a corporate league and other competitions in schools to revive the game at the school level.
He added that, a corporate event would also be aimed at bringing companies together to experience the game.
Coach Anthony Owusu Ansah also announced that two of the players, Felix Lartey and Derek Abrefa would be competing in the Olympic Games qualifiers in Sudan in February and was optimistic they would make the nation proud.
Players to compete in the Men’s Top 8 event include Felix Lartey, Derek Abrefa, Emmanuel Commey, Bernard Joe Sam, Emmanuel Asante, Ernest Mawutor, Jacob Saikom and Ishmael Addy.
