Paul Afoko Not Disqualified — NPP

Copy of paulPaul Afoko, an aspirant to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national chairmanship has not been disqualified after all, The Ghanaian Times can authoritatively state.

According to the committee that vetted the 44 aspirants last week, it has just put on hold Mr. Afoko’s clearance pending a few issues to be discussed.

There was speculation that Mr. Afoko who was vying for the position of national chairman had been disqualified from the race.

Some supporters of Mr. Afoko, apparently unhappy about this develop-ment have launched various protestations against the purported disqualification.

The youth thronged the NPP headoffice, Asylum Down, in Accra yesterday, to protest against the decision of the alleged disqualification

According to the group, the party’s election committee should not derail the chance of their candidate from becoming the national chairman.

The indecision of the committee has led to the postponement of the balloting for candidates to identify their order on the ballot paper.

The Director of Election of the NPP, Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah told  the Times that the party was investigating certain issues concerning Mr. Afoko..

Four leading members of the NPP are contesting for the chairmanship. They are Steven Ntim, Fred Oware, Paul Afoko and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey. By Bernard Benghan
