The General Overseer and Founder of  the Law of Karma International Ministry at Nsawam, in the Eastern Region, has been arrested by the police for allegedly engaging in money doubling.

Pastor Godfred Oppong, 47, is said to have collected GH¢8,000 from a businessman under the pretex of doubling it to GH¢2.5 billion but could not do so.

Oppong, who is reported to have been in the ministry for the past six years, is alleged to have duped many unsuspecting people.

The Nsawam District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Stephen Billy Addom told The Ghanaian Times that the complainant, Bright Broni, 26, a businessman reported the alleged fraud case against the pastor to the police.

He told the police that last November, Oppong approached he and his friend that he could assist them to become rich through the doubling of their money.

Broni feigned interest and gave him GH¢8,000 to double, but he failed.

After waiting for some weeks without hearing from Oppong, Broni confronted him for his money but was asked to wait for a while.

He became suspicious and reported the matter to the police, who arrested Oppong.

He  is currently in police custody, assisting them in their investigation, and would be put before court today.By Anita Nyarko
