Pastor Arrested For Robbery

pastorThe founder of Mogya Kokoo Church at Abofu, near Achimota, has been arrested by the police for his involvement in the robbery of Cemix Company Limited, dealers in power generating equipment, involving huge sums of money.

Justice Osei, 48, together with Nana Ama and Aavo Kevorkon, both convicted, were said to have robbed the company of GH¢85,000, $320.000 and 110,000 pounds sterling.

Briefing the media, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCOP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said on November 4, 2011, at about 11 am, Osei and Nana Ama entered the company’s premises armed with a knife and a pistol under the pretex of buying a generator.

He said an employee of the company led them to the office of Jean Francis Mourad, the Managing Director.

Nana Ama and Osei pretended to be interested in buying generators, but suddenly pulled out a pistol threatening to kill him if he did not obey their instructions.

He said Nana Ama, who was also holding a knife, pushed Mr. Mourad to the ground, and took the pistol from Osei and pointed it at him (Mourad).

DCOP Yohuno said, Osei tied Mr. Mourad’s hands and legs, and dragged him to the washroom, but he managed to free himself and raised the alarm. The suspects however, fled in a waiting taxi.

He said a prison officer who heard the alarm, chased the suspects and blocked the taxi with his car.

DCOP Yohuno said Osei managed to escape into the bush with the booty, and had since then been on the police wanted list.

He said investigations revealed that Kovorkion was in a relationship with Nana Ama who had prior knowledge of the robbery, and fed Osei and Nana Ama with the information about how to rob the company.

DCOP said it was also revealed that Kevorkion had been in contact with Nana Ama during and after the robbery.
