Parliament postpones recall to Sept 24

Parliament has postponed its scheduled emergency recall from September 10 to 24.
The House was expected to be recalled from recess next week for a week-long sitting to consider some emergency business.

According to the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the postponement has become necessary due to a string of some new engagements that must be attended to by the leadership of the house.

“The Speaker, Professor Mike Oquaye is sending me, the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu and the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu to Indonesia at the weekend.

“There is a world forum that we have to attend, it was not on the cards before we adjourned, we have to go this weekend.

“The Speaker himself has also been invited to Korea next week that is why we have now rescheduled to September 24,” Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said. –
