Parents urged to monitor academic progress of their children

The Ablekuma Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Mariama Karley Amui, has urged parents to effectively collaborate with school authorities to ensure the success of their children’s education.

According to her, school children spend most of their time with teachers, hence the need for parents to be in constant touch with their teachers’ to monitor the academic progress of the children entrusted in their care.

Ms Amui said this when she distributed educational materials to new entrants in the municipality as part of ‘My first day at school’ activities.

The schools visited include, Lartebiokorshie Blacksmith Basic School, Kaneshie West 1 Basic School, Salvation Cluster of Schools and the Barack Obama Education Centre of Excellence.

The MCE said the free education policy introduced by the government called for the collaboration of stakeholders to get on board towards achieving the free education in all aspects.

Ms Awuni charged the new entrants not to be scared of their teachers and instructors, but rather see the school environment as part of their new home, and give their all to make the new environment a memorable one.

Mr Martin Apima, the Lartebiokorshie Circuit Supervisor, who expressed satisfaction at the response of the schools, said the new curriculum, with the help of the teachers, would help transform education in the country.

According to him, the whole world was moving towards a technological age, it thus behoved every country to move towards that direction.
