About 810 pupils from basic and junior high schools in the Greater Accra Region have received educational materials from the Papaye Fast Food Company at an event dubbed, “Our Day Special”.

The programme which is organised annually for both private and public schools is also to refresh, advise and encourage pupils to be disciplined and focused on their academic pursuits.

Addressing the students on Thursday, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afote-Agbo said there was the need to support children especially the vulnerable, adding that, the government alone could not do it.

According to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, children are the future and bedrock of the country, therefore, maximum support should be given to them in terms of education, shelter and food.

“My dear children please be focused on your books and obey the elderly especially your teachers and parents who play vital roles in your lives,” he said.

He commended the management of Papaye for organising the event to put smiles on the faces of the students and called on other companies to do same.

The Founder and Executive Chairman of Papaye Fast Foods, Dr. Samir Kalmoni encouraged the students not to belittle themselves but keep focus on their education with determination, dedication and hard work to enable them to achieve their dreams.

“Just as Papaye’s benchmark is high standards, so do I challenge you to build and maintain the highest standards in your studies and become the reference point among your cohorts,” he said.

Dr. Kalmoni called on stakeholders to give the necessary immense support, direction and tuition needed in the formative years of children.

He advised parents to respect teachers and be committed to the education of their children by helping them with their home works.

Mr. Divine Asiedu, Chief Executive Officer of Papaye Fast Food said the event had been running for the past 20 years recognising pupils who have excelled in their academic pursuits and also developed all-round skills and attained remarkable achievements.
