Osei Extends ‘Goal-King’ Lead In Israel

osei mawuliGHANA’s glossy striker, Mawuli Osei, keeps on making inroads into Israeli football as he scored a brace for Hapoel Ashkelon in their 2-0 win over Maccabi Umm Al-Fahm in the Liga Leumit on Monday night.

He opened the scoring on the brink of half-time and added the second 20 minutes after the break.

The brace takes Osei’s goal haul to 17 in 21 games, and with 11 matches left to draw the curtains on the Liga Leumit, the ruthless Ghanaian goal-poacher hopes to score a few more goals.

“For some reasons, the goals stopped coming, but I thank God they are back again,” the elated Osei told the Times Sports yesterday.

Nick-named the ‘Black Messi,’ Osei put up an exhilarating performance last season after cracking home 19 goals in 26 games -and missing the ‘Goal-king’ coronet only by two goals.

Osei’s closest rival, Maor Peretz , whose goal haul include four from the spot, has played four games better  but is still behind the Ghanaian by three goals.

The former Liberty Professionals’ forward has been tipped to add some positive bite to the ‘assail’ of the senior national team, Black Stars, when given the opportunity.
