Kumasi Asante Kotoko General Manager, Samuel Opoku Nti has given the clearest hint that Coach Michael Osei will be appointed in a permanent capacity.
Osei, a former club star, replaced David Duncan in an interim role three months ago.
The ex-Black Stars midfielder is being mooted as a permanent replacement for the former ex-Hearts and Ashantigold coach.
And the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Opoku Nti has confirmed plans to make his role permanent.
“I have proposed to the board to appoint Michael Osei as the substantive head coach of the team,” he told Accra-based Happy FM.
“We sent in a request so they are now looking into it and I believe a decision will be taken soon.”
Osei has recorded eight wins since assuming the role.
He guided the side to clinch the 2016 President Cup on Sunday over Accra Hearts of Oak.
In a related development, former Kumasi Asante Kotoko German coach, Hans Dieter Schmidt says ex-Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour is the right person to be appointed as General Manager of the club.
Commenting on recent managerial speculations in the Reds family, the former coach believes Osei Kuffour has what it takes to manage the club to make it a strong force in Africa again.
“They should make Sammy Kuffour the General Manager. He has the clout and contacts in the world of football, “the German trainer wrote on his Facebook wall.
The role of the General Manager of the Porcupine Warriors has recently attracted huge attention as the board reportedly asked Opoku Nti to lay down his tools.
Sammy Kuffour was rumoured to have inched closer to securing the Kotoko top job but a media publication thwarted plans to make him the General Manager.
But Dieter Schmidt insists that the club must reconsider the decision to appoint him as the General Manager since he can brand and make the club better.
