Osagyefo Leadership International School (OLIS) has marked its second anniversary celebration with a call on parents to devote maximum attention towards the academic and social development of children so as to complement the efforts of teachers.
According to Mrs. Doris Amoah, Director of Basic Education and Training at Ghana Education Service, because the influence from home was critical in the formative years of children, parents need to actively partner teachers in ensuring that children were well nurtured socially and academically.
The anniversary celebration had the theme, “Education of our children: Our nation’s future.
Mrs. Amoah, who was the guest speaker, also urged school authorities to help children in the use of the psychomoto skills to add value to their training, while urging parents to help in improving the reading culture among children.
Alhaji Dr.Yusuf Ibrahim, proprietor of the school, observed that the quality of the nation’s future leaders would be determined by the quality of the present education system, and urged all stakeholders to provide meaningful contributions towards ensuring high education standards.
For his part, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Seth Korgah indicated that the rapid growth and significant achievement of the school in the past two years, was attributable to adherence to its core values, dedication of the staff, and excellent performance of the pupils.
He pledged that the school was committed to promoting excellence and service to the community, and called for the cooperation of parents and other stakeholders. As part of the celebration, some of the staff and pupils were honoured for distinguishing themselves.
