Oppong, Torgah excel at Tema President’s putter

TIMES (1)A count back score of 73 handed Margaret Oppong the ultimate over Joy Arkutu in this year’s President’s Putter at the Tema Country Golf Club (TCGC) last Saturday.

Mercy Werner, playing on a double handicap of 19 finished third with a score of 75, after losing two strokes to the first two winners in the ladies Group A handicap event. And for their reward, they received giant trophies and souvenirs sponsored by club president Dr Do-Jae Kofi Yim.

Kwame Michele recorded a 69 score to pick the ultimate in the ladies Group B category, while Cathy Boateng and Naomi Addo followed in that order with 81 and 86 scores respectively.

In the men’s scratch event, Felix Anthonio beat SK Afari on count back, 72 score to pick the ultimate prize, while Derry Dzadey won the men’s Group A Handicap event, with Noel Hammond, Reuben Avoryi and Frank Avorsei trailing in that order.

The men’s Group B handicap event saw Emmanuel Benisson also recording a count back score of 63, beating Albert Agbo.

It was Vincent Torgah, who recorded a 68 net score to win the professionals event to pocket a fee of GH¢650, while his sibling Francis Torgah, E. K. Owusu, E. Opoku, E Henaku and J. Mawuli followed in that order.

Dr Yim commended participants for honouring the invitation saying,

“I want to commend all of you for gracing this special event. I want to urge you to continue in this vein.
