The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will on Friday determine the fate of Mr. Samuel Opoku Nti, with regard to his position as Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
This has become necessary as fans of the Porcupine Warriors are divided over the leadership of the club with some calling on the Asantehene to allow Opoku Nti to continue until his term expires in July 2016; but others believe it is time for him to leave the scene.
But a source at Manhyia has indicated that the Asantehene will decide as he meets the club’s management on Friday, to discuss the way forward of the club that woefully failed Asanteman, for their inability to even lift the Otumfuo Cup.
However, the Times Sports has gathered that all indications are pointing to the ‘camp’ of Samuel Osei Kuffour, former Black Stars and Bayern Munich star as the next boss of the club.
The former Bayern Munich defender was said to have met the Asantehene regarding the take-over from Mr. Opoku Nti – a decision some of the old players are not happy with.
Earlier, a former player, Dogo Moro, expressed concern on air about such development “saying if a former player should run the affairs of Kotoko, then it should be a former player of the club.”
Some of the fans believe the fate of head coach, David Duncan, hangs in the balance as the potential coming of Osei Kuffuor could provoke a change in the technical direction of the club.
