FA Cup finalists, Okwahu United have intensified their preparation ahead of their crucial FA Cup final against Bechem United at the New Cape Coast Sports Stadium Sunday.

The Division One League (DOL) side has seen their chances of qualification to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) quashed with five games to go and occupying mid-table position in zone three.

Winning the FA Cup therefore offers the only avenue to hit the limelight again as a win would take them to Africa for the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Speaking to the Times Sports, head coach of the team, Ibrahim Merigah revealed that he is putting things in place to help the players be in the best shape ahead of the fierce encounter.

The former player and now coach of the ‘Soccer Mountaineers’ said and his charges are fired up to cause an upset over an in-form Bechem United side that thrashed Accra Hearts of Oak in a Ghana Premier League game on Sunday.

But that feat would not scare the ambitious DOL side that defeated Liberty Professionals on penalties at the Baba Yara stadium to qualify for this year’s FA Cup finale.

“We are preparing very well and are ready to do anything humanly possible to lift this cup. I have been a footballer before and I know what a player needs before he goes into a game and I’m making sure they get whatever they need at training to be in a position to win,” he said.

“I won this trophy in my playing days with Okwahu United and I would be very happy to win it again with this same team as a coach” he added.

The Nkawkaw based club before making it to the final defeated premiership sides like WAFA, Liberty, Hasaacas and Dreams FC and with that knack to deal with the elite sides, Coach Merigah remains optimistic about their chances.
