Ofosu Ampofo: NDC will work closely with media

The newly elected Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samnuel Ofosu Ampofo, has said the party will work closely with the media in its bid to recapture power in the 2020 general elections.

He said the party’s relationship with the media would be strengthened to make it more vibrant, visible and marketable to wrestle power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in election 2020.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was speaking at a reception organised by the party for Editors and Senior Journalists in Accra on Friday.

He commended the media for the extensive and comprehensive coverage of the party’s national delegates’ congress adding that “the media played a significant role that led to the success of the congress and I commend you for that.”

“Your positive reportage was all over the media landscape.  I got calls from both home and abroad on your reportage and I, on behalf of the party commend you for the wonderful work,” he stated

Mr. Ampofo pointed out that one of the issues raised in Professor Kwasi Botchwey’s report was the party’s relationship with the media and pledged to work closely with the media this time round.

The new Chairman promised to operate an open door policy and urged the media not to hesitate to call on the party for any information required.

Mr. Ampofo said he and his team would hit the ground running in a bid to recapture power from the NPP and called for support from the media to achieve its dream.

Present at the reception were James Agyenim-Boateng, former Deputy Minister of Information and Spokesperson for former President Mahama, Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and James Asante, Director of Communications at the NDC headquarters.
