A multi-million-cedi resort, aimed at enhancing the tourism credentials of Nzulezu in the Joromo District of the Western Region, has been opened.

The development of the Karela Beach Resort is expected to boost the local economy of the area through the attraction of more tourists to the area, as well as creating jobs for the locals.

Being a four-star hotel resort, Karela is strategically positioned to serve as both a resting and preparatory joint for tourists who may want to visit Nzulezu, the community on water.

Mr. David Bigridi, Managing Director of the facility, which is to be officially opened on Saturday, said the investment was dedicated towards the growth of the economy of the area.

He explained that the area has abundant tourist attraction sites, but the inadequate modern hospitality facilities have left those sites underutilised.

“We are here to boost tourism arrivals, which remains key in generating revenue for the national economy,” he said.

He promised that the resort, which has a 250 capacity conference hall, restaurants, a swimming pool, beach game courts, and boat cruise and surfing facilities, would deliver on its mandate of modernising tourism in the area and creating development opportunities for the locals.
