Nyantakyi Urges Massive Support For Beach Soccer

The President of the Ghana  Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has asked for the support for Beach Soccer as it has the potential of winning laurels for the country. Speaking at the just-ended Beach Soccer Championship, which saw Hamedzi emerging as winners, the impressed FA boss, stated that the players have displayed great commitment to the sport which was vital for its growth.

“The sport has over a short period of its existence in the country shown massive potential and needs to be supported by stakeholders and the corporate sector,” he added. He said, though the event has been in the country for only three years, both organisers and players have lifted the game by improving upon the quality of play.

According to him, Ghana will make a huge impact in beach soccer if granted the exposure to international competitions as talents abound in the country.

Mr. Nyantakyi also congratulated the winners and tasked the other teams to put up a better fight in next year’s league. President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, also confirmed that this year’s championship has seen a tremendous improvement over the past editions.

He added that efforts would be made to ensure that the championship exist in all the regions for a possible national league to commence.

He stressed that Ghana would be participating in an invitational tournament next month while looking forward to participating in the World Cup.

The event also attracted big wigs in the sports sector including the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Vincent Oppong Asamoah and the Director of the National Sports Authority, Joe Kpenge.
