Nsawkaw youth want DCE removed

Mr Jones Tawiah DCE OF TAINThe youth of Nsawkaw have called for the immediate removal of Mr. Jones Tawiah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Tain, in the Brong Ahafo for showing gross disrespect to the chiefs and people of Nsawkaw, the district capital.

He is alleged to have said that Nsawkaw does not deserve to be a district capital, in an interview with an Accra-based FM station.

In an interview with The Ghanaian Times, the Secretary of the Concerned Group, Roland Abebrese Djan, appealed to the President to dismiss the DCE from office to ensure the peace in the district, to help accelerate development.

According to Mr Djan, the statement by the DCE was uncalled for, and had created confusion, threatening the peace in the area.

School children in the District last Friday were prevented by the irate youth from marking the 58th Anniversary celebration of Ghana’s Independence, because of the DCE’s statement.

The youth disrupted the celebration by dismantling canopies and removing plastic chairs from the venue.

Currently a joint military/police team is patrolling the town, to ensure the peace.
