The Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Sule Salifu, has cautioned constituency executives in the region to abide by NPP guidelines in issuing nomination forms to aspirants for the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries.
He said “any NPP member who expresses interest in contesting the party’s parliamentary primaries should be allowed to take nomination forms.”
Mr. Sule, issued the warning following confusion among some NPP members in the Savelugu constituency over the picking of nomination forms.
An aspirant of the primaries Mohammed Hafiz, who resigned as the Savelugu Constituency Organiser, was refused nomination forms last Wednesday.
This infuriated some NPP supporters in the constituency, who threatened to cause mayhem should the party prevent Hafiz from picking nominations forms.
However, Mr Sule at the NPP regional office issued Mr. Hafiz with nomination forms, thereby bringing the situation under control.
The NPP Regional Secretary said it was only the party’s vetting committees that could approve or disapprove the application of any aspirant to contest the primaries.
Mr. Sule advised supporters to use party rules in addressing their grievances, saying the party’s unity was crucial than the interest of individuals.
