A planned press conference in support of the suspended Chairman of the New Patriotic (NPP), Paul Afoko, was scuttled by some angry supporters of the party at Chorkor, in the Ablekuma South Constituency.
Attoh Quarshie, who is said to be a supporter of Paul Afoko, arranged the press conference to address “recent developments in the NPP.”
There was chaos when a group loyal to the party, stormed the venue in an attempt to stop the press conference.
Canopies and chairs prepared for the event were destroyed in the heat of the confrontation.
The group said the press conference was not sanctioned by the Ablekuma South constituency executive of the party, and in the heat of the confrontation, the press conference was called off.
The Constituency’s first vice-chairman, Henry Nii Lantey Plange, told newsmen that no member of the executive was aware of the press conference.
“There is authority in Ablekuma South constituency,” Nii Lantey said, “so we quickly went into action to call the programme off.”
