NPP condemns alleged Ofosu Ampofo’s leaked tape

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, for allegedly unleashing attacks on key personalities in the country, in a leaked audio recording.

According to the NPP, the tape has revealed how the NDC Chairman has indicated his party’s intention to attack some personalities as well as plunge chaos ahead of the 2020 general election.

Communications Director of the party, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, made the condemnation yesterday at a press conference to state the party’s position on the alleged tape.

A leaked tape alleged to be the voice of Mr Ofosu Ampofo in a meeting with party communicators said, “We are going to take her (EC boss) to the cleaners.

“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war against her, she doesn’t want to see my face, we will go after her, but we will not go after them face-to-face, we have to use tactical operation to make life very uncomfortable for them,” Mr Ofosu Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the “bloody” Ayawaso by-election.

Mr Asamoah indicated that the statements made by Mr Ofosu Ampofo revealed the assassination ploy intended to be unleashed on the EC officials.

“This is the confirmation from the current NDC leadership on how they have actively planned to cause mayhem to destabilise the country, which has been exposed.

“Of course, the NPP cannot sit by and allow this event to go without comments, since the NDC elected presidential candidate show the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence to international communities to tarnish the image of the government.

“The revelations on the tape have become public knowledge which explains the entire attitude of the NDC will not be tolerated and broken public trust, listening to the NDC Chairman’s plans to kidnap and assassinate key personalities.

“Until we get to the bottom of this matter, this nation is not safe, Ofosu Ampofo and his party do not intend to allow peace to reign, and I ask the hierarchy of the NDC to demand the resignation of the party chairman and distance themselves from the revelations made on the leaked tape.”
