NPP Chairman Challenges Colleagues

Nii Noi NorteyThe New Patriotic Party chairman for the Klottey-Korle constituency in Greater Accra Region, Nii Noi Nortey, has challenged his colleagues to train polling station executives for the up coming limited voters registration exercise to be conducted by the Electoral Commission.

This, he noted, would ensure that the exercise was carried out in a transparent manner and devoid of any discrepancies with respect to future elections.

Noi Nortey made the appeal at the closing ceremony of a four-day training progamme organised for about 800 NPP polling station executives in the constituency.

It had the theme: “Strengthening the grassroots structures for victory 2016”.

The programme, which was financed by the constituency chairman, was graced by NPP stalwarts who served as resource persons.

Nii Nortey said the exercise had been very useful as it equipped the participants with the requisite know-how.

According to him, the executives were trained to understand their duties and responsibilities in order to ensure an incident-free exercise.

“We intend to get the polling stations ready for the upcoming registration since elections are won at the polling station starting with registration of voters,” he said.

He said the party was ready to recapture the Klottey Korle parliamentary seat which has been swinging between NPP and the National Democratic Congress by mobilising at the grass roots.

Mr. Nortey urged party members in the constituency not to rest on their oars and eschew petty squabbles.

He advised members to be wary of politicians who might want to influence them with money and other gifts saying, “if you succumb to such temptations, you cannot make informed choice which could ensure victory for us”.
