Notorious robber grabbed

Kofi Asaadu,suspected armed robberA 23-year-old man described by the police as a notorious armed robber is in the grips of the police for his alleged involvement in a series of crimes.

Kofi Asaadu, also known as “K2”, has been on the police wanted list since May 2014, for his involvement in murder, robbery, rape and arson cases.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, told a news conference in Accra yesterday that on July 20, Asaadu emptied a truck of goods being transported to Techiman in the Brong-Ahafo Region, when it developed a fault around Taifa Junction.

He said on July 22, a lady, Yaa Baby was murdered in her kiosk at Taifa and police suspected Asaadu for it.

DCOP Yohuno said on September 18, the suspect raped and assaulted another lady (name withheld) and went into hiding.

Barely a month ago, Asaadu, armed with a sharp machete, is said to have attacked Richard Boamah for allegedly chasing his girlfriend, set his kiosk on fire.

DCOP Yohuno said he is assisting the police with investigations and would be put before court soon.
