NLA pays GH¢29m into Consolidated Fund— Director-General

The National Lottery  Authority, has made a payment of GH¢29 million into the Consolidated Fund during the course of the year 2015, the Director-General, Brigadier General Martin Ahiaglo, has disclosed.

The figure is an improvement over last year’s figure of GH¢25 million.

Speaking at the launch of the maiden edition of the Customer Service Week celebration, Brigadier General Ahiaglo said NLA had achieved about 90 per cent of its target and hoped to round it by the close of year.

He attributed the feat to excellent customer service.

The weeklong celebration which is characterised by series of activities is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of customer service.

Again, the Authority, sought to educate its customers about NLA’s innovation and commitment to improve customer satisfaction.

He said it was imperative for management to identify the needs of customers and strive to provide same.

While acknowledging the hardworking staff and contributions of customers to the success of the NLA, Brigadier General Ahiaglo intimated that his outfit had outdoored a three-year innovative strategy for growth to promote customer-centric culture.

To achieve excellent customer service, the Director-General said NLA had introduced a lot of initiatives including prompt payment of commission to lotto marketing companies, improved its network connectivity, a policy to enable instant payment of wins up to a certain threshold and credit uploads through the use of Mobile Money.

In August this year, the authority acquired a new Point Of Sale Terminals (POSTs) to augment its stock of terminals to more than 20, 000 terminals.

He outlined some other initiatives as modernising training centres, introduction of satellite kiosks in communities where there are no partner banks to facilitate credit uploads and designed customer focused training to improve service delivery.

Management, he said had taken a decision to re-engage the services of SIMNET Ghana Ltd as an additional online lottery service provider to engender competition and operational excellence, expand the market base of NLA’s businesses and increase its contribution to the Consolidated Fund.

Mrs. Mona Quartey, Deputy Minister of Finance commended the NLA for its timely release of revenue to the public purse.

She was particularly enthused about NLA’s dedication to corporate social responsibility, adding that it had impacted individuals and communities nationwide.
