Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency, Nii Armah Ashietey, yesterday filed his nomination forms to contest for the third time on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Presenting the nomination forms to the Constituency Chairman, Nii Narh Alema, he promised victory for the party when elected to contest as a parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections.
“We won the seat in 2008 and again in 2012 and I am confident that with your support, our work in the constituency, the achievements of President John Dramani Mahama will give us victory in the 2016 election” he said.
Nii Ashietey said the party needs a vibrant and committed candidate to help maintain the seat and that he is the only candidate who can defeat the New Patriotic Party for the third time.
“We need more than NDC members to win the December 2016 parliamentary and presidential elections. What we need in this constituency is a candidate that can represent the party and the people.
That is why I urge delegates to vote for a candidate who appeals to the broad mass of our people in the NDC and across board” he said.
He said he had contributed immensely towards the development of the party which makes him the best candidate to once again win the seat for the NDC.
“As branch Chairman, Ward Chairman and Constituency Chairman over the years, I have worked tirelessly together with members of the party this far.
From a very humble beginning, my hard work and perseverance has yielded positive results for our constituency leading to the transformation of the structures of our party” he said.
The Constituency Chairman, Nii Narh Alema urged aspirants to do a clean campaign devoid of insults in order to protect the image of the party.
He urged aspirants to support candidate who would be elected after the party primaries to strengthen their campaign during the 2016 elections.
