Nigerian Nabbed For Trafficking Girls

Graphic2A 32-year –old Nigerian, Elugwu Friday, was on Tuesday, arrested at Sogakope by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for allegedly attempting to traffic three Nigerian girls to La Cote d’Ivoire.

The girls, between the ages of 14 and 19, are Florence Nzele, 18, Loveth Amieye, 19, and Mercy Vincent, 14.

According to the Acting Aflao Sector Commander, of the GIS, Julius Gborglah, the suspect confessed that he and the victims did not know each other but were introduced to him by Swagg, a recruiting agent in Nigeria.

He said the victims told him that the trafficker promised them lucrative jobs on arrival in Cote d’Ivoire and that within six months, he would help them acquire the necessary documents after which they would be sent to France.

Mr. Gborglah said further checks indicated that the victims were not in possession of any travelling documents and that Friday was the one who paid for their trip.

He said the victims also claimed that their relatives were not aware of the trip because Friday seized their phones and so they could not contact their relatives to inform them about the journey.

The Sector Commander said the suspect and the victims had been handed over to the police for further interrogation.
