The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has inaugurated a new police post at Ngleshie Amanfro, near Kasoa, in the Central Region.
A patrol vehicle was also provided to police personnel at the post, to facilitate their movement.
DCOP Yohuno said the building of the police post will help ensure law and order in the area, in the wake of recent crimes, particularly the spate of robbery attacks on residents of the area.
He appealed to the people to volunteer information to the police, to enable them to arrest criminals, especially armed robbers, saying, “Collectively we can overcome the robbers, if we look within our neighbourhood and expose those robbers, since most of them live with us.”
DCOP Yohuno said, the police had arrested a notorious armed robber in his hideout at Buduburam in the region.
Receiving keys to the facility, the chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Kwashi Gborlor IV, thanked the police for ensuring law and order in the area.
He urged the residents to form watchdog groups to complement the efforts of the police.
In a related development, DCOP Tetteh Yohuno on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, presented 100 bags of cement and 25,000 cement blocks to the residents of the community, towards the construction of a permanent police station.
