Professor Domwini Dabire Kuupole on Friday officially handed over the mantle of Vice Chancellorship of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to his successor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah.
Prof. Kuupole, whose four-year tenure ended on the same day, took over from Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the first female VC of the country and currently the Minister of Education, in 2012.
Prof. Ampiah, the 10th VC of the university, until his appointment by the University Council on July 30, this year, was the Provost of the College of Education Studies. He would serve for four years.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, Prof. Kuupole expressed profound gratitude to the University Council, Management and the entire community for their contribution and support for his successful tenure.
He called on the university community and all stakeholders to extend similar support to Prof. Ampiah to enable him build on the gains achieved by the university.
Prof. Ampiah, for his part, expressed gratitude to the university for the confidence reposed in him, adding that he was mindful of the responsibility the position has entrusted to him, and promised to deliver.
