NDC Needs New Ideas

Mr.  Jake Addo, a leading member of National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for the encouragement of free articulation of views within the party to enhance cohesion.

Asiedu NketiaHe cautioned that if the ordinary party members are prevented from airing their views on pertinent party issues, the NDC would lose its appeal and competiveness in future elections.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema, he said political parties need new ideas and reorganisation periodically to stand the test of time, adding: “When you suppress voices of dissent, you suppress the energies you need for revitalisation.”

Mr Addo, who is running for the post of Tema East Constituency Chairman of NDC, said the party was built on the virtues of transparency and accountability which have emboldened members to seek a clear direction when they do not see through certain actions and issues.

He commended the national executive of the party for the introduction of the biometric identity cards for members since it would enhance the “broad based participation of all members in crucial matters”.

“This is the best thing that ever happened to the party recently. When the ordinary person is given the opportunity to participate in the determination of party issues, we will be able to bring about the changes and devotion needed to make the party more democratic and more appealing to Ghanaians,” he said.
