NDC Mourns Comrade P.V.

P.V. ObengThe National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it is dismayed at the sudden demise of Mr. Paul Victor Obeng, a leading member of the party.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, described the death of Mr. Obeng as a huge loss to the party and the nation.

“His death has come as a shock not only to the NDC, but also to the nation, both home and abroad considering his impact on Ghanaian politics, especially at the crucial state of the nation’s governance when his services were needed most.

“P.V. was a political strategist who combined diplomacy and tact in dealing with issues relating to governance, exploits that undoubtedly ushered him to the class of statesmanship in Ghana and beyond.

“The NDC saw him as a rare unifier whose political astuteness and foresight culminated in the party’s success in all endeavours. In fact his good leadership skills and widely acclaimed oratory is indelible and a precious legacy which, has become an inspiration to both young and old politicians of this generation,” it said.

According to the NDC, Ghanaians would forever remember PV’s excellent counsel.

“He provided quality counsel to former President Jerry Rawlings during the Provincial National Defence Council (PNDC) era, former President John Evans Atta Mills of blessed memory and, until his sudden demise, a senior adviser to President John Dramani Mahama,” the statement said, adding that “his political opponents say the good counsel of PV had no bounds and cut across political divide.”

“Indeed the nation has lost an intelligent statesman whose passion for the realization of the country’s socio-economic aspirations could not be compared with.

“As the NDC and the nation mourn our beloved senior comrade, the party extends its deepest condolences to the grief stricken family, especially the widow and children,” it added.
