NCCE Solicits Support For Project

The Deputy Director in-charge of Programmes at the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mrs. Dora Hammond, has appealed to corporate bodies to assist the Commission on its Project Citizen “Road Show” slated for next year.

She explained that the project which would focus on research findings when completed would be presented to authorities involved. Mrs. Hammond disclosed this to The Ghanaian Times on the sidelines of the forth regional showcase on Project Citizenry Ghana, organised for selected schools in the Sunyani municipality.

Mrs. Hammond said that the idea behind the programme was to engage the youth to be critical thinkers and proffer solutions to problems in society. It was also  to train them to be responsible adults and contribute to  development.

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of NCCE, Mr.Issah Abdulai Nasagri, reiterated the need for the skills of the youth to be harnessed in order to prepare them to be useful citizens.

He called on the youth not to be passive citizens but be  involved in the development activities of Ghana’s democratic process.

Meanwhile, after the showcase by the schools, Notre Dame Girls Senior High was judged the best school in the competition, and would represent the region in the national competition slated in Accra, next year.

The other competing schools were Chiraa Senior High, Odumaseman Senior High School, Bechem Presby Senior High and Yamfo Anglican Senior High. From Daniel Dzirasah, Sunyani
