Navarrete retains belt in fourth-round TKO

Emmanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (30-1; 25) won on a fourth-round technical knockout over Francisco Horta (20-4-1; 10) to retain his WBO junior featherweight belt on Saturday night at the Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla, Mexico.

Navarrete, who was making the fourth defence of his belt, was in control throughout the first three rounds before the referee stopped the one-sided affair two minutes and nine seconds into the fourth round

On the same bill in a contest for the interim IBF junior featherweight belt, Ryosuke Iwasa (27-3; 17) won on an 11th-round technical knockout against Marlon Tapales (33-2; 17).

The referee ruled a knockdown against Tapales in the third round, even though replays showed that the knockdown came from a clash of heads.

However, in the 11th round, Tapales was knocked down and, even though he beat the count, he was in no condition to continue before the referee waved the fight off at 1:09 into the round.

Also on the bill, IBF junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas (32-1-2; 22) stopped Miguel González (31-3; 8) in the sixth round to retain his belt. The time was 1:53. – supersport.com
