The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has presented relief items to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly for onward distribution to the recent flood victims in the metropolis.
The items included student mattresses, plastic buckets, used clothes, and plastic cups and plates.
The Northern Regional Co-ordinator of NADMO, Alhaji Abdulai Simliboma who presented the items to the assembly said they were meant to support the victims of the recent rainstorm that hit the area
He stated that the organisation was working hard to mobilise resources to help ameliorate the suffering of the victims.
Alhaji Simliboma lamented that the recent floods and rainstorm disasters that affected several parts of the region was having severe pressure on NADMO.
He said that the havoc caused by the recent floods and the rainstorm was massive and huge that NADMO alone cannot handle.
Alhaji Simliboma therefore appealed to the both local and international agencies to assist address the plight of the victims.
The regional coordinator said even though the items were not enough, it would help relief the suffering of the victims.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale Mr. Abdul Rahman Hanan Gundadow who received the items on behalf of the assembly thanked NADMO for the presentation.
He pledged to personally monitor the distribution of the items to ensure that only the deserving ones benefit.
The MCE took advantage of the ceremony to advise the residents to desist from building on water ways, adding that such people were putting their lives in danger.
