Muslim Chiefs Confer With Madina Assembly

MADINAThe La – Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly has commended the Madina Council of Muslim Chiefs for their immense support in the assembly’s quest to develop the area.

The Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Franklin Anku gave the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Madina Alhaji Amadu Baba Seidu on Tuesday at Madina near Accra.

The call was to discuss issues of mutual concern towards the total development of the area.

He was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for the area Alhaji Amadu Sorogho Member of Parliament for La-Nkwantannang-Madina and other officials of the assembly.

Mr. Anku said though the first year of the assembly’s establishment had been turbulent, they have managed to weather the storm through the efforts of the Council of Muslim Chiefs and other chiefs in the municipality hence the need to commend them for their efforts.

“The first year had indeed been difficult, first with the burning of the market, which had been re-constructed and handed back to the traders, then the relocation of containers and kiosks to pave way for the new road projects that would give the area a face lift.”

The Chief of Madina, Alhaji Amadu Baba Seidu assured the MCE of their continued support to enable him succeed.

He urged the DCE to ensure that the contractors working on the road projects construct speed rumps at vantage points to save the lives of the road users.

Alhaji Seidu urged Mr Anku to expedite action on the hospital and the street light projects and said that “we are confident that he can do it because the signs are already showing”.

The MP of the area, Alhaji Amadou Sorogho, assured the chiefs that the area would have frequent water flow once the booster station under construction is completed.

He indicated that his outfit and the assembly would work around the clock to bring a face lift to the area befitting a modern city. By Lawrence Akpalu
