Muder Suspect’s Body Found Decomposed

The decomposed body of Awuku Avie, a 50-year-old farmer, who allegedly killed his girl-friend, at Goalkeeper, near Kaase, was on Tuesday found at the Sea Boy Cottage in a secondary forest in the Bia East District of the Western Region.

Avie was said to have hanged himself after committing the bloody act on the night of Monday, October 27.

The body, according to the police, was found in a highly decomposed state with maggots in the head, nose and ears with the tongue falling out.

A cutlass, believed to have been used by the deceased in killing Abena Ahenfie, the 52-year-old farmer was found at the scene.

“We will hand over the body to the chief of Kaase after the doctors have performed the coroner’s inquest report for burial,” the Sefwi Debsio Police Commander, ASP Daniel Wiafe, told The Ghanaian Times.

He said on Tuesday, a farmer saw the body of Avie hanging in the forest near the Sea Boy Cottage, two kilometres away from the Goalkeeper Cottage, where Ahenfie lived, in a decomposed state and informed the police at Kaase of it.

He said, the police went to the scene on Wednesday and found the body, and upon the advice of doctors that it should be buried in the forest, did so.
