Speaking at the launch in Accra on Wednesday, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Richard Acheampong said the promotion was meant to express gratitude to customers for their loyalty and also join in the celebration of the milestone the country had achieved in the past six decades.
“Ghana remains a symbol of hope for Africa in many ways. As the leading telecommunications service provider in the country, MTN strongly indentifies itself with Ghana’s attribute of being a trailblazer,” he said.
Mr Acheampong said MTN remained a pacesetter, being the network of choice for Ghanaians, with the widest coverage, the greatest selection of digital services, running on a state-of-the-art network that includes mobile 4G Long Term Evolution service.
He indicated that the massive investment the company had in its network had made communication easy for subscribers.
“Last year we invested $96 million in network expansion and a further $18 million to deploy 475 4G sites across the country. This year we are expanding the 4G network so that more subscribers can enjoy the faster speeds,” he said.
Mr Acheampong indicated that 197 more MTN 4G network sites would be constructed this year to enable Ghanaians to enjoy faster surfing, downloading, uploading, video and many more broadband services.
“We wish to assure you once again of MTN’s commitment to Ghana’s development,” he said, adding that “as we begin to celebrate 60 years of Ghana’s independence, MTN was ever more determined to fulfil its mission of making the lives of the customers of the company more brighter”.
The acting Marketing Manager hinted that the MTN had also launched a one-year campaign programme to commemorate the country’s 60 anniversary programme.
