MTN Ghana has launched its Mobile Money Month with a call on Ghanaians to sign on to the product to bring financial services to the doorstep of their homes.
The one-month campaign which was launched in Accra on Wednesday and replicated across the regional capitals of the country was on the theme, “Let’s go cashless with MTN Mobile Money”.
The programme, which was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Ebenezer Twum Asante, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, the Head of Corporate Services and other bigwigs of the company, was used to educate traders and head porters on the need to sign on the MTN Mobile Money for their business transactions and to keep their monies safe.
Speaking at the launch, the General Manager in charge of Mobile Financial Service of MTN, Eli Hini said as a leader in Ghana’s Mobile Money and telecommunications sector, MTN was committed to ensuring that bold steps were taken to ensure that Ghana goes cashless with the use of Mobile Money.
He said MTN had dedicated the month of August to promote the use of mobile money and the benefits it brings to individuals and businesses both small and large.
Currently, Mr. Hini said there were five million active MTN Mobile Money subscribers with more than 46,000 MTN Mobile Money merchants across the country, adding that the MTN Mobile Money had attained the International Standard Organisation ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification.
On the issue of fraud, he said MTN had upgraded the service and called on all stakeholders to help address the challenge.
