The MTN Ghana Foundation has held its annual Valen-tine’s Day blood donation exercise to contribute to saving lives in the country.
The exercise, dubbed ‘Save a Life Campaign,’ was held on Friday, where staff of MTN and members of the public donated blood in response to the need to replenish blood banks of hospitals in the country.
Mrs Cynthia Lumor, MTN Ghana Foundation Executive Director said, “Helping others by giving part of ourselves is an honour, and the MTN Ghana Foundation is pleased to lead a campaign that enables people to positively impact the lives of others”.
She said blood cannot be manufactured by anyone and in the season of love, there was no better way of showing than to donate blood to save a life.
According to her, the blood would go towards restocking the National Blood Bank as well as blood banks in the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Effia Nkwanta Hospital in Takoradi, Tamale Teaching Hospital, and Bolga Regional Hospital
“The blood donation drive is targeted at MTN employees as well as the general public and will take place at nine collection centres across the country with a target of 1,200 pints of blood.
She said while helping save lives, the blood donation exercise could contribute to the achievement of reducing child and maternal mortality in the country.
