MPC To Meet Next Week

WampahThe Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) will commence its 60th regular meeting on Monday, July 7, 2014, to review development in the economy.

The meeting will end with a decision on the appropriate positioning of the Bank’s Policy Rate.

The BoG statement issued in Accra yesterday, said the MPC will address a press conference at the bank’s head office on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 11.00 a.m. 

The decision of the MPC, with respect to the bank’s policy rate, will be announced at the press conference, the statement said.

The MPC is responsible for formulating and implementing policy in the areas of money, banking and credit with the main aim of maintaining stable prices conducive to balanced and stable economic growth, as well as promoting and preserving monetary stability.

The committee sets an interest rate it judges are consistent with an inflation target and an objective of growth.
