MP Supports Education In Salaga

MR. Alhassan Mumuni, Member of Parliament (MP) for Salaga North, in the Northern Region, has initiated an award scheme for hard-working teachers and stakeholders, in the constituency.

He said there was the need to develop education to facilitate the fight against poverty, hunger and disease.

Speaking at the launch of the scheme at Kpalbe last Thursday, Mr Mumuni said the gesture was aimed to improve teaching and learning, adding that teachers needed to be encouraged to give of their best.

He said: “The time people used to say that a teacher’s reward is in heaven has passed. Teachers therefore, deserve their reward here”.

Mr. Mumuni lamented the poor academic performance of students in the area, especially in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, and called on stakeholders to help reverse the trend.

He appealed to parents to support their children to acquire education, saying it was the best legacy they could bequeath to their children.

In all, 12 teachers and circuit supervisors were awarded various items and cash, all amounting to GH¢20,000, sponsored by the MP through his share of the GETFund.  From: Yakubu Abdul-Majeed, Kpalbe
