Mourinho Angry

Jose-Mourinho-001Jose Mourinho blew his stack as lucky Chelsea lost but still reached the Champions League last 16 with a game to spare.

The ‘Special One’ was clearly furious with his sloppy side as they gave their worst performance of the season.

Even Petr Cech’s brilliance was not enough as Egyptian speedster Mohamed Salah skipped through three minutes from time to find the back of the Chelsea net.

But with Schalke failing to beat Steaua Bucharest and the German side hosting Basel next month, it means Chelsea are through to the knock-out phase.

“A bad performance, a deserved defeat. But because of other results, we qualify,” Mourinho said. “That is the only positive thing from this night.

“I did not like anything from the first minute. We started with a defensive mistake.

“The team only had a bit of stability and control in the second half. I felt the team was tired, they paid the price of the international break and a crucial match against West Ham.

“There was no reaction from the players, and wrong decisions. I am not sad with them, as I understand they were not fresh.”

Mourinho failed to mask his anger on the sidelines as his team coughed up the ball time and again.

Chelsea also fear they will be without Samuel Eto’o for the start of the critical December fixtures after the African was carried off before the break with an apparent groin injury.

Cech pulled off a series of stops in the first half as Basel gave the Blues the run-around.

The Czech keeper denied skipper Marco Streller and Egyptian speedster Mohamed Saleh.

Chelsea got even luckier when Frank Lampard battered down Taulant Xhaka’s deflected cross with his right arm, in front of French referee Stephane Lannoy.

They looked to have survived, despite failing to have a single shot on target, only for Saleh to have the final word.
